Orphan Choir have released their second album, which they have decided to self title. This album has the same sound and feel as their previous EP. These guys have a sound that is comparable to artists such as Junior Battles, Mockingbird, Wish Me Luck and even a Single Mothers, so if you like these bands, you could really like this band. They have a sound that is like indie rock, punk fusion. 

When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent sound. Now the band is going for a grungy, rougher sound than is typically preferred, so it isn't as clear. This doesn't take away from anything, as this has a solid sound regardless. The instrumentation on this album is nothing that is going to really turn your head, but the band can play nice and steady. There is nothing overly great or overly bad here, just straight playing.

Not onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are done with a very grungy roughness to them. The vocalist can certainly sing, and the vocals are quite clear, so you can get the idea behind each song pretty easily. All in all, the vocals are pretty decent here, and they pit with the type of music the band is playing. With the lyrics, the band sings songs about the blue collar lifestyle, living life, the things that happen around you a nd more. This band really just goes for humble lyrics and what goes on in a smaller city. We feel that a lot of people who live(d) the small town life, will be able to really relate to these songs.

The Apex have released their debut album which is self titled. This album has a very metal sound to it, more directly, an older tech metal feel with the drumming here. This album has a similar sound to bands like Strapping Young Lad or a Cryptopsy, so if you are into bands like that, you could like this album. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album seems to be pretty low and the vocals don't seem to be as loud or in your face as you'd figure them to be. The instrumentation on this album isn't bad, the band can play, but it feels more like they are trying to play as hard and crazy as they can. This is a little too over the top for me personally, would of liked it toned back a bit. Now onto the vocals and lyrics. The vocals on here seem like they are a little bit too forced and stretching the vocalists voice. There are hints of times where he did a shorter version of his vocal style and it just sounded better. He can sing though and its not bad. With the vocals the band has decided to go for songs about being distracted in things or society, failing at life, burning down everything, etc. These certainly seem to be very negative lyrics, but they work in this genre. The doomy type of lyrics are what fans like to hear, so they are on the right path for what people want to hear. All in all, not bad. The Apex have made a debut album that shows people what they are about an d the style they want to fit in within music. There are some things to work on, and there are some recording quality issues, but all in all, this is a good base for the band to start off with. Orphan Choir have released their debut album. This one is just a demo. This album seems to have a very typical punk feel to it in both the music and vocal stylings. Although being round, we can hear a similar sound to that of an Against Me! or a Hot Water Music, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done an okay job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, it has been recorded somewhat poorly. The quality isn't the greatest, and it seems like everything needs to be clearer. The instrumentation on this album is nothing to really turn an ear to, but the band has a base to work from here. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album seem to feel like they are going in and out of tune, while the singer screams at you. He also seems to go up and down on his delivery within each verse. You can see potential here, but they need a solid producer to mold the rawness of the band up, and give them direction. With the lyrics the band goes for messages about hoping you get a second chance with someone, living life on the road,and relationships in general. These seem to be the typical subject that bands sing about. It is nice how they don't say it so direct, so we give them a plus for that. We see potential. Woods Of Ypres have released their debut album titled "Against The Seasons: Cold Winter Songs From The Dead Summer Heat." This album shows the band in a very black metal way. The shrieking vocals and the music which sounds like doom is upon us really bring the creation to life. The band has a similar sound to that of a Dimmu Borgir or a Cradle Of Filth, so if you are into bands like those, you could really enjoy this album. They have done a pretty decent job on the album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent quality here. The instrumentation is pretty solid on this album. Although the band isn't going to blow you away with their crazy riffs, but the band has a really tight sound and can really play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are done pretty well for a black metal sound. He has a screech that really works well with the style of metal the band is making, while still making his lyrics clear enough to understand. Not bad overall. With the lyrics, the band has decided to go for a bit of an evil record in trying to give you that typical black metal lyrical content, while still having songs with some more depth too them as well. Very well written lyrics and we are glad to see it. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Woods Of Ypres have surprisingly made a pretty decent black metal album here for their first shot. We think the album overall has been done wrapped up nicely and we can't wait to see what the guys come out with next. All that is left is for the guys to get out more and show people these songs. Minors have released their first album titled "Anno Domini." This album has a very heavy hardcore, but also punk feel to them. These guys are sort of in the gap between the two genres. We feel that the band is similar to that of Converge or even The Chariot, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a level that fits the style of the band. The instrumentation is not bad, the band can play and they can do it pretty fast. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are done in a very hardcore style. Now they could use a little work in the recording, as they seem quite quiet and overpowered by the instruments. Although you can tell the vocalist can scream, it is harder to pick out the lyrics as the quality and noise makes it hard to hear him. With the lyrics, the band goes for the typical angry, against things with society and life in general. This is typical of the style and genre the band is going for, so it fits in quite well. We think people who are into this music will really like this album. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song or listen to the whole thing as it is only three songs, then you will know what the album is all about. Minors have made an album that is hectic and heavy, while keeping that hardcore punk feel to them. We think this is something people could get into, and we hope the band gets out and introduces their music to more people. Good job overall here. Falsifier have released their second album titled "Life In Death." This one follows along the same sound and style the band came up with for their debut. This album just seems to be heavier and have their sound perfected to give them a brutal sound. These guys have a similar sound to Chelsea Grin or even Last Ten Seconds Of Life. If you are into those bands, you could really like this album. It has quite the deathcore feel to it. This album has been done quite well. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded right on par with the solid signed deathcore bands. The instrumentation isn't bad at all here either, the band can certainly play, and they give a worthy effort on the album. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on the album are really heavy and growled. Falsifers vocalist sings these songs just perfectly, clear enough to just have the lyrics heard but heavy and brutal enough to really bring the whole album together. great vocals overall. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of death, sorrow, sadness and depression.These give off some really good metal songs and appeal to the type of listener the band is getting. Either the vocalist was in a dark place writing these songs or they attempted to make songs very metal. Our thought is, they did a solid job. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to bget the idea of the album. We suggest listening to "I Am Death" as this is our favourite song on the album. Falsifier have stepped up and made an album that will definitely shoot them up the metal rnks and make people take notice. We really like this album and think the band did a great job overall. Pomegranate Tiger have released their debut album titled "Entities." This album first off, has no vocals so it is an instrumental album. The band definitely shows off their talent on their debut and as an instrumental album, the band has that progressive vibe to them. These guys have a similar sound and feel to that of Intervals and Animals As Leaders, so if you are into that music, you could really like this album. The guys have done a pretty solid job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded  fairly well, it just needs to be a little louder and have the guitars a little more upfront. The instrumentation is quite good here. The band shows off their skills and makes you pay attention. Now as this band is an instrumental band, there is no vocals or lyrics on this album. Although this album has no vocals, it doesn't feel like it needs it, as the guitars seem to speak in their own way. If you are looking for a single to this album, there unfortunately isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the album. Pomegranate Tiger have released a debut, sort of welcome to album that really shows the talent of these guys, as well as showing that you don't need the lyrics to be the star of the music. Falsifier have released their debut album titled "Falsifier." This album is one that has a very tough, hard feeling to them. They consider this a beatdown type of style, but either way, it is hard and heavy. We feel this band is like a Sworn In or a Thy Art Is Murder, so if you like those bands, you could like this band. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded pretty well and the bands instrumentation here is alright too. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are good for what they are, it is just a little hard to make out the lyrics here. With the lyrics, they could use a little bit to give more meaning to the songs and give it something everyone can get into, plus blah isn't a lyric. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the feel of this album. Falsifier have something here that could end up working for them, if they progress and tweak their sound, mold it into something a little more their own, this could really go. We do love the heaviness of the album, we just wish the vocals were a little louder. Anothing thing is we would like to this this band just get out there and play more, get the buzz out. Ravenscode have released their debut full length album titled "District of Broken Hope." This album is one that puts the band into that heavier radio rock that is out there on the waves. If you are into a band like Three Days Grace of a Trapt, this band could really appeal to you. They have done a decent job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well while having that big rock sound to it. With the instrumentation on this album, it is pretty average but they can certainly play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals have a pretty solid sound to them while being very clear and listenable. The lyrics here could use a little work to get more meaning of a powerful meaning to their lyrics, but they are not bad. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Now & Then" your attention, as this song is the best on the album and gives you a good idea of the feel of the album. Ravenscode have done a solid job on their debut sort of welcome to album. it has something that fans of this style of music will will, but we do hope that with some progression, the band can make their next albums a little more their own sound. Faithful Unto Death have released their third album entitled "Epistemology." This album is a continuation of their previous two albums so that their fans know just exactly how the album will sound. These guys have done a decent job on this album so this is good. Look for bands like The Ghost Inside and Haste The Day for bands that would have a similar sound. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the quality has been done pretty well and the instrumentation of this album, is average but still good for this album. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals sound pretty decent here and the vocals are meaningful here so this album brings the sound and the bands evolution and getting bigger here with this. If you are looking for a single for this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song on this album and give it a listen to get the overall feel of the album. Faithful Unto Death have done a really good job with the evolution and continuation from their previous album to this one. StereoGoesStellar's debut full length is one that really shows off the sound that they are going for. This is a light rock, pop with keyboards kind of sound. Think of this band as a sort of The Midway State but with different sounding vocals. The band has done a really good job on this album. Probably the biggest criticism for this album though is that some of the songs are just way too long, sometimes you can just go overboard and loose the listener and we think they have done that on a few songs here. When looking at the recording of this album, it has been done faily well, it has a good sound, but when you look at the instrumentation, sometimes the main piano focus looses people. These lyrics are realy good though, so thats a plus on that. If you are looking for a single for this album, give the song "Far Too Gone" a listen as this song is very piano driven and has a really good sound,  plus good lyrics as well. StereoGoesStellar are doing the pop rock thing just a little different and it seems to work. With some tweaking and progression, this could really turn into something big. Awake And Dreaming are a band that really fit well with the softer more pop driven pop punk, and they show that on their first full length "It's Always Midnight In Sin City." This band has a rock and po punk fell to them. bands that come to mind are Faber Drive, All Time Low, and Hedley. These guys have done a really good job on making an album that really feels solid. When you look at the recording of this album, it has been done pretty decently, just the smallest of tweaks could help this albums sound be crisper. The music is pretty good, nothing to boast about but thats okay, and the lyrics are a little better then that along with a decent vocal sound. If you want a song to listen to, not sure if there was a single or not but the song "The Common Cold Shoulder" was picked for purevolume's unsigned band compilation. This song also shows off what the band is about. These guys have done a really good job on this album, including having both fast paced and slower song to compliment each other. Please listen to this album, as you will really be impressed with these guys work and they have something here that could really shoot them up the ladder and make something of this. Sadly they have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
