Caym have released their debut album titled "Thriving On Chaos". This album is one that shows off the band in a very metal light. These guys seem to have more of that grungy, play on the wrong side of town sound. They have a similar sound to that of Anvil, Sepultura and DevilDriver, so if you like band like that, you could like this album. They have done a pretty good job here. 

When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to an alright quality. The music could be a little crisper and the vocals could be louder to match the music. It just feels like the vocals aren't quite to the quality of the music. With the instrumentation, the band has done a really solid job. You can certainly tell they can play, and their ability make you turn your ear and take notice. 

Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album have a pretty screeched feel to them. Their singer can sing, but it feels a little forced and hard to completely understand what he is saying.  Listening to the backing vocals, they are hard to listen to and sound out of tune. Not bad, but there is some work to be done for sure. With the lyrics, they are hard to quite understand just what the vocalist is singing about. After listening to the album, we get songs about fear, pain, relationships and conflict with others. These are pretty typical themes in songs, especially in metal. We feel people can get a grasp on this and relate. Not a bad job.

If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and listen to it to get the idea of the album. Caym have made a debut album that shows off the style and sound the band is going for, while giving you the first taste of the band. Hounskull have released their debut album titled "Galactilord". This album is one that shows the band having a spaced themed album, that goes for the 80's style of fast and thrashy metal. They have a similar sound to that of a Crimson Shadows, Iron Maiden, or viking metal. If you are into those bands, you could like this album. They have done an alright job here on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, it seems to be a little muted, and the vocals seem to need to be more up front in the mix. This album isn't recorded badly, it just has too much of the old metal vibe to it, which makes it lacking in todays music. The instrumentation isn't too bad here, the band can certainly play, and they riff all over in the intro, as well as throughout the entire album. These guys can certainly give it. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are alright. He can certainly sing, but the production value on the vocals especially hurts this album a bit. It does not have a flow to the singing either, it has more of a word word word way, instead of singing a flowing sentence. With the lyrics, the band seems to go for more spacy lyrics, and giving you a story about a traveler through space, and what happens to him. This a a bigger thing in metal to have a concept album, but not everyone loves those. They have done a pretty good job though. A bit odd for the average listener, but it's their thing and it works. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, and to get the whole story, you should listen to the whole album. Maybe skip the intro if you want, but the rest is the story. Hounskull have made a different sort of album, but it's a metal thing. We personally aren't a fan of this type of metal, or concept albums so it's not for us, but give it a listen to decide for yourself what y ou think about it.

Crash Parallel have released their second album titled "Sunset In Reverse." This album has a lighter alternative rock feel than their debut album. The album also seems to just be twelve songs without a clear hit or song to be drawn to. These guys have a similar sound to that of a Lifehouse, Five For Fighting or even a Train type of band. So if you are into bands like these, you could really like this band. They have done an aright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent standard here. These songs have a very listenable album through and through in the production. The instrumentation on the other hand is nothing to write home about. This band can certainly play, but there isn't really anything that makes you turn your head and notice with the album or playing. Now onto the vocals and lyrics. The vocals have been done very well on this album. Crash Parallel's singer can certainly sing, and he has a nice clear, on pitch voice. When he sings, you can hear just what he is singing about and get the full meanings of the songs. With the lyrics, the band sings about relationships, dealing with the good and bad, fighting for what you want, and trying to make the best life. These topics are what a lot of bands sing about. Along with the very generic sound, plus no song really hitting you, this makes for a pretty mediocre album albeit has a solid sound. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Still Won't Let You Go" your attention, as it is the single off this album. Crash Parallel has made an album that we aren't really sure what it does for their career besides give them more songs to play. From our point, this is a flop album. If you are looking for anything new, different or unique from this album, you will be disappointing. All in all, we aren't a big fan of this album. Maybe you will be, so give it a listen to decide yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Trouble & Daughter have released their second album titled "Alcohol & Nicotine." This album has a little more of a raw feel it than the previous album, but still has that sound the band established on the previous album. They have a similar sound to that of a City & Colour with female vocals added into it, so if you like that, this could be a decent album for you. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, it has a decent quality to it while still staying raw. The instrumentation on the album is pretty average as it is pretty much just acoustic guitar. You can even hear what sounds like bottle blowing at one part of the album. This is not to say its bad because they can certainly play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are a little different as they have both male and female unison vocals. We give the vocals a similar sound and style to that of Walk Off The Earth. Everyone seems to be able to sing very well, in a trained style that many, especially in female singers, is quite common. Solid overall in the vocals. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about being shy and afraid to show your feelings, why you let someone go, relationships, love. They have a lot of male/female relationship songs here. We feel that for anyone that has liked or been in love with someone, they will understand these lyrics and connect to them. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the album. Trouble & Daughter have made an album that feels more like just a hanging around the house with an acoustic guitar feel to it. They have a nice sound though and can certainly sing. We hope they get out more and play all over to get more people into their music. Not bad overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. Daylight For Deadeyes have released their debut album which happens to be self titled. This album is one that has that rock feel of those older type of bands. It is a sound that goes more with those bands who have weekly contracts with bars. They have a similar sound to Big Sugar or even a Counting Crows, so if you like those bands, you could like this one. They have done a not too bad job on the album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a fairly well standard. The instrumentation is more on the average side, but they manage to play solidly. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on the album are on the sort of country rock side. They are nice and clear while being able to tell that the vocalist can sing. With the lyrics, they are very much about a girl and what they hope happens or the aftermath of what happened. These are very typical lyrics for this style of rock. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so pick a song and give it a listen to see how the album sounds. Daylight For Deadeyes have put together a debut album that needs some work and a style change so that they get out of the older rock, bar band style of rock and more into the radio rock. Crash Parallel have released their debut album titled "World We know." This album is one that really shows off the band in that alternative rock style. They have a similar sound to that of Lifehouse or even a Counting Crows, so if you like either of those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a really good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a fairly decent standard. The instrumentation on the album is not bad either, nothing that will blow your socks off but still, the band can play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals have a really nice rock sound to them that will appeal to just about anyone. He has a really clear voice and a nice range, which makes this really awesome. Now with the lyrics, they seem to be about love and despair but also about saving yourself in these times. They have a story that most people get. If you are looking for a single to this album, listen to the title song "World We Know" as this is the best song on the album and really gives you the best idea of the rest of the album. Crash Parallel have really made a debut record that is radio friendly and anyone can get into it. This is a nice effort and we hope to continue hearing from them. Trouble & Daughter have released their debut album titled "Trouble & Daughter." This album is sort of a welcome to for the band, where you get to be introduced to their style of folky acoustic music. This album sounds like a little more folky version of City & Colour with female vocals added into it. The band has done a pretty good job making this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly decently and the instrumentation goes quite well with what the band is trying to put together with this album. Now looking at the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are done really well here, especially that harmonized male/female vocals which are right in sync, make this sound quite good. The lyrics on this album have been written very well also, and make the stories very easy to understand. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Trouble & Daughter have put out a debut album that really sets the bar high for the band, which being someone who doesn't really listen to this genre much, was a nice surprise to hear this album. Greg Borgardts has released his debut album which is quite literally "In Good Spirits". The album has a very acoustic indie feel to it, and when listening to the album, you get the feel of the vocals sounding like that of Tokyo Police Club. Greg has done an alright job on his debut album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the quality could of been done a little better, but he was going for that quiet, lo-fi feeling so it is suppose to be that way. The instrumentation on this album, being acoustic, is pretty average. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals could be a little bit louder, while the lyrics to some of the songs could of used more verses instead of a couple words, guitar, a couple words. It seemed to have a very draggy and not much substance to the songs. If you are looking for a single for this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Greg Borgardts has done an alright job on this debut album, it is his first and a sort of welcome to his music, but we hope that he keeps it up while progressing. A Sin For A Prayer have released their debut album titled "Conception." They are a heavy band with with a nasty feel to their music, which is great for metal. The band has a style that most metal fans will enjoy and has those nice raspy metal vocals that the new wave of american metal has. When you look at the recording of this album, they could of done a bit of a better job, its missing a little clarity here and there, but other then that its pretty good. Their music sounds pretty decent, the playing and everything and the vocals are alright, the background vocals need some work though and the lyrics a lacking just a tiny bit. If you are looking for a song to listen to, the band doesn't really have a single here, so just pick any song and you'll get the feel for the album. These guys have something here that could work, it has a pretty solid starting to get into that metal scene. Just keep hammering out songs and tweak them just a little, hopefully there will be something for theses guys. Listen to this album. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Horizons - Singles

Horizons have released their second album titled "Singles." This album continues with the sound the band had established with their previous album. As the name says, each one of these songs could be singles and they are built that way. The way the screaming and the clean vocals compliment each other just works so well and makes each song great to listen to. With the recording, again they have recorded a great album and the instrumentation here is decent as well,  not one thing to complain about with this. These lyrics also work really well and there is no swearing in this album either. Now you should listen to every song on this album, all three are great, but if there was a rank, switch Find Your Light and Washed Away. Any song you listen to will show you the way the others are. All in all, this is a great album and needs to be listened to, make sure you pay attention to what this band does as well, they are going to hit it big.

The Existent have released their debut album titled "The Great Awakening." This album shows off the bands abilities and guitar work in a five song effort. When you first listen to this band, you can tell they have all the tendencies of a deathcore band and have the deep vocals. This album seems to be recorded decently and the band is able to play pretty well, plus the songs are alright to listen to. The song to listen to by these guys would be "The Roots From Within" as this song is the best one on the album and gets straight to the point, plus shows off what the band is doing on the rest of the album. All in all, this is an alright first effort for a band that came out of nowhere. Lets hope they progress and go even further with their style in the future. Give this album a listen.
