Drag The Lake - I Am Violence

1. Widowmaker
2. Deathrow
3. I Am Violence
4. Claymore
5. To The Crows

Drag The Lake's debut album is heavy as it is brutal. The band hits you hard with their style of deathcore that just pounds it in there. They have a sound like Chelsea Grin or Suicide Silence, so if you like those bands, you could get into these guys too. They have done a pretty good job. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the quality is alright here, could use just a little work, but its still good and the instrumentation is decent here, especially the guitar with the solos. Now onto the lyrics and vocals, the vocals could use some work, as they are hard to hear the lyrics, but thats what deathcore is, and the lyrics could use a little more meaning behind them. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick any song and give it a listen to hear what the albums feel is. Drag The Lake have done a pretty good job on their debut album. Hopefully this band just continues to progress and play those shows, then someone will eventually find them. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it, and get on this band soon, as they are hitting it.

Destain - Fuck Yourself EP

http://www.facebook.com/destainband

1. Bitches Abroad
2. Kill You
3. Sharks Don't Cry
4. Treblinka
5. What Comes Around Is All Around

Despite the offensive album title, Destain have managed to make an alright debut album for your listening pleasure. As soon the album starts, the offensiveness starts, but you kind of expect that with a band such as this. The guys have a deathcore sound with really deep vocals and it has a very tough guy sort of sound to it. Now with the album recording, it could have been a bit better as the vocals and music seem to be in the background and the lyrics are not the greatest, the best thing on this album is probably the guitars, they seem to stand out here. If you want a song to listen to, give the song "Sharks Don't Cry" a listen, as this song is the standout of the album and it has a real metal feel to it. This band has the pieces here to do something, they just need to tweak it and progress a bit further, look for them to get better as they improve on everything. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Brighter, Brightest - Arrow

1. Strike Gold
2. Give Me Something
3. Roll With Me
4. Waiting For You
5. Grey Sweater
6. Someone New

Brighter, Brightest have released their third album "Arrows." This album seems to be one where they have decided to go back more to their faster and catchier music that everyone loves. Singer Derek Hoffman is a really good producer and songwriter, so this is one that hits all the marks right on. There is nothing really that you can knit pick the album for, it is just a solid offering all around. The song "Waiting For You" is probably the least favourite as it is the slower one of the six songs, and "Strike Gold" is the preferred one as the story in the song is something to connect with. Kepp listening to this band, they are great.

1. The Beer Song In F
2. Old Pine Tree
3. Pan Am
4. Train Of Love
5. Goin' 'Round The Bend

This is an album you listen to while drinking. The songs on here are about drinking and they have a folk sound to them. The other reason you listen to them while drinking is because they are not very good. The quality of everything overall could be way better. Check them out though.

Brighter, Brightest - Right For Me

1. All I Know
2. Everyday
3. Moving
4. Way Back Down
5. Who I'm Supposed To Be
6. Invisible
7. Kiss
8. When Will I Wake Up?
9. You Got Me
10. It's Not Easy
11. Right For Me

Brighter, Brightest have released their first full length titled "Right For Me." This album has a really nice and polished feel to their powerpop music. This is quite a jump for this band. As documented on the show Disband. the band worked with Machine and he pushed the band to get the best out of the band. this band has a similar sound to that of The Maine and even maybe a Downtown Fiction, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a great job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, Producer Machine has made this album sound just great. The instrumentation on this album is quite nice and solid. This band has done a great job on making this album sound really good. Now onto the vocals and lyircs, the vocals on this album are crisp and clear. Derek Hoffman really knows how to sing and get the most out of his voice. Really nice singing on this album. With the lyrics, they go for very cute love lyrics and stories to knowing how fast to move. There is also song with trying to figure out who you are in life and what the right move for you is. These are really well thought out lyrics with great stories and messages to them. If there is a song to listen to on this album, give the song "Way Back Down" your attention is it is our favourite song on the album and shows off the highlights of the album. Brighter, Brightest have made a full length album that really shows off what the band can do and gives you the perfect light, relationshippy album to listen to. Well done job on the part of these guys. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think about it.

Brighter, Brightest - Demo

1. Your Name In Lights
2. Guardian Angel

Brighter, Brightest have come out with their debut songs. These two songs "Your Name In Lights" and "Guardian Angel" set the tone for how this band wants their music to feel. Both of these songs are very poppy but also have very well done instrumentation and lyrics, the vocals for them are also done well. Out of the two songs "Your Name In Lights" seems to be the better one, so listen to that one first, but listen to the whole demo. This band is going to be big, so start listening to them.

Use As Directed - Any Other Girl

1. Any Other Girl
2. Change My Mind
3. Wasted
4. All That I Want

The first EP from use As Directed is pretty good, I like it. The band has a more poppy style to their pop punk, which makes their music instantly enjoyable. Nothing too crazy here, just some good old poppy pop punk to make your day a little brighter. Give them a try.
