Serial Joe have released their second album, which happens to be their label debut titled "Face Down." This album follows along with the same style and sound the band established on their first album. This has a dark, alternative rock feel to it, which is perfect for the time. The album also features attempted rap style of vocals which was popular at the time of this album. These guys have a similar style to that of bands like Econoline Crush or Matthew Good Band, so if you liked those bands, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent sound at the time. This album hasn't really stood up to time when listening to it now, however it could be how they tried to go for that dark alternative sound on this album. The instrumentation isn't the greatest, as this is a young band who still have a lot to learn. Now the back can play, they just aren't going to wow you yet, besides with their age. Onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album aren't bad, he can certainly sing, the vocals are also nice and clear for you to understand. Not too bad for a new singer and band. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about girls, being angry, and trying to get away from your issues. This is what many bands sing about, so they aren't mind blowing or lyrics you have to think about, just nice plain regular songs and lyrics. If you are looking for a single to this album, give this song "Mistake" your attention as this is the best song on the album, and will give you a feel for the album. Serial Joe have made an album that certainly will give them some attention, but with some better recording, and growth as a band, this could really go somewhere. We look forward to hearing what is next. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
