Heavy Hearts have released their third album which they decided to self title. This is also the bands debut indie label release. These guys have a sound that mixes 90's alternative with punk music and it's quite interesting to listen to. This follows the style and sound the band created with their previous two releases. These guys have a sound that right now is pretty much their own, as bands in the scene they are in, are not doing this alternative sound. They have done a really good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has a pretty decent sound but it could be a little bit louder in the vocals. The instrumentation is not bad on this album, the band can certainly play, but they don't go too over the top which is sometimes nice to listen to. Right in the middle as we like it. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocalist has a really nice rock voice here, with a little bit of a hard edge to it. He is nice, crisp and clear so you can hear all the lyrics. We wish either he was a little louder or the music was a quieter so we can hear the lyrics a little more. With the lyrics, the band has decided to go with messages of a relationship where one person is going faster than the other, things not being able to last, being caught up in two sides of a relationship and just relationships in general seem t be the theme here. As everyone gets into relationships, these songs have elements people can relate to. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Garden Arm" your attention as this song really rocks and showcases the album the best. It is our favourite on the album. Heavy Hearts have made 4 songs full of emotion and you can tell just what point of their life they were at during the recording of this album. We enjoyed this album. Hopefully the band can get out of Ontario, as they deserve it. Overall not a bad album. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
