Cruel Bloom have released their second album titled "Ketamine." This album is a mix of really grimy hardcore punk, to brutal death metal. There seems to be a little bit of uncertainty with this band still. They have a similar sound to the crust punk type of bands and the really punk bands you think of from they 80's. They have done an okay job here, but this type of punk is suppose to sound sloppy. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty average standard, but again, they want to to sound grimy and sloppy. The instrumentation is pretty average, although the band can play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the bands' vocalist can certainly sing the style they are going for but it is really hard to pick out the lyrics with his style. Not a bad singer for this genre. With the lyrics, since you can't really pick them out, it is hard to grasp that the singer is singing about all the crap in the world and the things that suck. These are very typical songs in this way for similar bands. The lyrics could use a little work as the band is still young. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Cruel Bloom still haven't quite figured out what they want to do, so if they do manage that, and to clean the vocals up a bit, this band might be able to bring more people to their music.
