Highs have released their debut album with just happens to be self titled. This album really shows the band in that very indie light that seems to be sweeping through the area in the last few years. These guys have a sound the that of Born Ruffians or a Hidden Cameras, so if you like those bands you could like these guys. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well here. The band can certainly play but it just doesn't really blow you away, even though that isn't the style they play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are a nice mix of male and female vocals while having a nice, light, airy feel to them that will appeal to a wide range of people. With the lyrics, they have are uplifting and easy to get behind while giving you their message wholeheartedly. Their lyrics have been done pretty well. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Mango" your attention as it is the best song on the album and really gives you that feel of what Highs are trying to do on this album. Highs have made an album here that really has a nice sound and will brighten your summery day. We do hope to see that these guys get out more and bring their music to the masses so that they can get more of a buzz. Great album overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
