Michou have released their debut EP titled "Medea". This album has a very soft, light Indie feel to it. The music seems to be pretty keyboard driven as well. They have a similar sound to that of Coeur De Pirate or Angus & Julia Stone. If you like those artists, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job on this album.
When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent level. The vocals could use a little more volume, but with his quiet, soft voice, it works. This album has a very listenable quality to it. The instrumentation on the album is pretty average here. This is not to say the band is bad or anything, there's just nothing that you will turn your head and wow you. These guys can play, and this is just good old regular playing here on this album.
Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are pretty soft and have very soothing quality to them. His voice is something you can just put on and forget about it. It feels more like his is telling a story than actually singing, but he is really good. His vocals are super clear, and you can tell just what he's getting at with the lyrics. He has a really nice voice, and we think that is the main feature to the band. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about relationships, interactions between two people and more. These subjects are things that the target audience can get behind, and really connect with the band. They do it in story form, so it's a little different than the whole she left and I'm sad thing. Really good story telling.
If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song, or give the whole album a listen since it's only five songs, and you'll get the idea of the band.
Michou have made a debut album that shows off what the band is about, and gives them something to start their band off with. This gives them a set they can start playing and a way to show their sound. We think that people will be able to get on board with what they are doing, and we can't wait to see what else they come up with. They have done a good job here. Listen to this album for yourself to decide what you think about it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
