Five Blank Pages - Spaces To Occupy And Abandon

1. Lacewood
2. A Point Of Reference
3. Your Best Day Is Yet To Come
4. Richie T
5. Used T
6. Five Blank Pages

Five Blank Pages have released their debut album titled "Spaces To Occupy And Abandon." This album shows the band in a pop indie sort of style. This has a very older Weezer and a Metric feel to it, so if you are into those bands, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job here.

When looking at the recording quality on this album, the album has a pretty decent sound for being an indie debut release. There is some freshening up the band could do, but the quality is decent where it is very listenable. The instrumentation on this album is not bad either. It isn't anything to wow yourself with, but it is just good old average rock, nothing crazy, nothing to knock it.

Now onto the vocals and lyrics. When looking at the vocals, they seem to be a little on the soft side. With a little more power, he could certainly get his words to you better, but thats okay. The singer can certainly sing, and he is quite clear so you get everything he is saying. All in all, not a bad job on the vocals here. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about relationships, things that happen with going about your everyday life, and more. This seems like a bit of a cop out with that side of the music. So many other bands also sing about these topics, but on a debut, as long as it gives the listener something and an idea of your sound, you can work on lyrics with the next album.

If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song, besides lacewood, an intro, and you will get a pretty good idea of what the band is about.

Five Blank Pages have made a debut album that is pretty generic for the sound and style they have gone for. This isn't too bad, as you need to give people something, and a base to go from. Not bad all in all, but we hope to see them trending upwards on the next album, which we can't wait to hear. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think about it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Cleopatrick - 14

1. City Kids
2. Chromeo
3. Belly Button Blues
4. Friends

Cleopatrick  have released their debut album titled "14". Their debut gives the band the feeling of an older blues rock band from the 60's. This sound seems to be pretty popular lately in the Canadian music scene right now. The band has a similar sound to that of Queens Of The Stone Age, Kiss or even a Foo Fighters, so if you like any of those bands, you could like this album. They have done a pretty decent job here. The instrumentation on this album is actually pretty good here. You can tell the guys can play well, nothing crazy, but just some good old well played rock and roll Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals on this album have a coolness to them. You can tell the singer is confident and knows what he is doing. He can certainly sing he shows off his highs pretty well also. good job overall. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about having that one person who is your kryptonite, standing up for yourself, having people you trust, etc. I don't know how well the listener will relate to all the songs, but we feel that you will find at least one song you get. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't really one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the album. Cleopatrick have made a debut album that show the sound and style the band is going for, and introduces them to you. They have done a pretty good job here, it's just nothing too unique, which isn't a bad thing to us. We feel the album is decent overall. Give the album a listen to decide for yourself what you think of it.

The Honeyrunners - The Honeyrunners

1. Jet Set
2. Spirits
3. Sweet Thing
4. Out Of My Mind
5. Fool

The Honeyrunners have released their debut album titled "The Honeyrunners." This album is one that really shows off the the band and their traditional rock sound. The band also utilizes the use of keyboards which helps to enhance their traditional rock sound. Tese guys have a similar sound to that of The Balconies or The Beaches, so if you like those bands, you could like this album as well. They have done a good job here. When looking at the recording quality of the album, this album has been recorded to a really decent quality. The sound is nice and crisp, while being able to make out everything going on in the recording. The instrumentation is nothing to crazy, you can tell the band can play, but nothing wild or over the top that gets your head turning. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics. With the vocals, the singer has a nice clear but traditional singing voice. This band, and the singing in particular don't really have anything special or unique to them on this album, but they can just can give a decent performance all around. We would like to see an element jump out though, to not just be another indie throwback rock band. With the lyrics, the band tends to go for songs about learning life, growing up, finding love after a hard time, music, and having the world crash down on you. These songs feel like the ups and downs of what can happen to you in life. It's nice to see a band that does this, as many bands make all sad songs or are way to happy, it's nice to get a blend. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get an idea of the album. The Honeyrunners have made a debut album that shows off the style and sound the band is going for. We hope that with the next album they can give themselves a little more identity, as we know the playing and music is there. We would also like to see this band around more so people can learn about them. Not a bad album overall and can't wait to see what is next. Give this album a listen to decide for yourself what you think about it.

Monster Truck - The Brown EP

1. I Am Freedom
2. Love Attack
3. Seven Seas Blues
4. Righteous Smoke
5. Sworded Beest

Monster Truck's Brown EP is one that really made quite a splash. The band has a classic rock sound that still seems to fit in with today's style. Monster Truck have done a great job making an album that could shoot them up there and further their career. Now when you look at the recording of this album, this album has been recorded very well and it has that sort of groove to it. The vocals are really decent here also, its nice to see someone who can hit higher notes and make it sound really good. Now if your looking for a song to listen to, give the song "Righteous Smoke" your attention as that song really rocks and it brings out the best in what the band is trying to do. This song also has some good chants to it. Monster Truck have made a very good album here that a lot of people will like, so give it a listen and make sure you listen to the whole album, its that good. Also make sure you follow what the band is up to as the band is starting to go places.

The Dirty Nil - Summer Mix-Tape

1. Bruto Bloody Bruto
2. Fuckin' Up Young
3. Cinnamon
4. Panzer

The Dirty Nil released their Summer Mix-tape  for only the summer of 2012 . On this album they have shown what the band is all about. The rough guitars, the indie style singing, and the raw playing, make this band a very interesting one to hear. They have something special with these songs, and it is only a matter of time before they blow up. The single "Fuckin' Up Young" have a very groove oriented riff to it and gives it a solid sound. Also,  listen to their  new single "Cinnamon" before it was re-done. Give this a listen right away, as these guys will be getting big soon, and you'll want to be there for the ride.

Lint - Messy And Mediocre, With A Dash Of Bland

1. I Never Said I Didn't Not Have A Heart
2. I'd Burn This Town, Maybe
3. Kids Like Us Have It Pretty Bad

Messy And Mediocre is a demo by Lint. They have done a good job with this, well as far as horribly recorded lyrics and bad, simple lyrics can get you. This band has come a long way with playing their first show in late 2013. The band seems to have a following, and the songs are decent. Get on it and listen, what are you waiting for?

20 Amp Soundchild - Outside The Marketplace

1. (She Won't) Let Me Down
2. Down But Not Out
3. I Can Change
4. Jive
5. Stucco (Lying In My Bed)

20 Amp's third release goes along with the sound of the other ones. There is nothing much different here from the last one, but it is good solid softer indie rock. You can listen to these guys anywhere and it will feel right. This is just a solid all around album from start to finish. Check it out so you can gather your opinion though.

The Junction - The Junction

1. Station Me
2. Put The Hammer Down
3. Deceptions
4. The Curtains!!! They Call
5. ...
6. Frequencies
7. Components Of Four
8. In Recall
9. In The Realm
10. The Darkest Night
11. Notion Of Love
12.  I'm Aware And Writing From The Heart
13. Remember Love

The Junction's major label debut album is one that is sadly disappointing. Other then the song Components Of Four, which is a re-recording from their previous album, nothing really stands out. You can listen to this album from front to back, loose interest, and then say, oh its over. That being said, this band is still great, and they do have something good going on here, so don't give up on them. You can take it or leave it with what I said, but make sure you check out the album and make your own opinion about it.

Touch Me Airborne Plague - Touch Me Airborne Plague (Sampler)

1. The Rate Of Exchange
2. Leave No Bridge Unburned
3. Retaliatory Action

Touch Me Airborne Plague's sampler EP is awesome. With their unique approach to the indie rock genre, they are going win people over, if the unusual name doesn't get them first. I think this band is well on their way, and you will see what I mean when you listen to them. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
