Nicole Dollanganger has released her debut album titled "Curdled Milk." This album has a very soft, squeaky, girly quality to it. This seems to be very simple, but just enough of an indie side to be edgy and cool. She has a similar sound to that of a Lights or Melanie Martinez, so if you like those artists, you could really like this album. She has done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, this album could use more production for sure, as this album was recorded in a bathroom and bedroom. As such, this sounds quite good for that. With proper production and recording, there is no telling how good this could be. The instrumentation on this album is quite simple. Being a solo artist and where it was recorded, and with her being really sick while making this album, its a feat in itself that she made this sound like it does. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals on this album are actually quite good. You can tell that Nicole can certainly sing, she has a strong voice and can really hold a note. She sure has potential. With the lyrics, Nicole goes for a quite weird but unique angle here. Nicole hits a deep dark sad place where depression, suicide and just all around gloom live. These are the things she sings about, in a very soft, squeaky voice. You would not expect these lyrics from an artist sound like this, so it is a unique perspective. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of this album. Nicole has a different way at looking at pop music, giving it a very dark place to go to. This is something you have to listen to for yourself to understand it really. We feel that with a more polished album, you could really hear and feel the pain she sings about. This is certainly an artist we would like to hear more of as she progresses. Nighttime In Kansas have released their debut album titled "Solstic." This album shows the new young band in quite the ambient indie style. These guys are definitely the type of music you can put on if you just want something chill, or nice soft background music. They have a similar sound to that of an Azure Ray or Message To Bears, so if you are into artists like that, you may really enjoy this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album needs a little bit of work. At times the music overpowers the soft vocals, but also has moments where we wish the keyboards were more upfront in the mix. As this band ins quite a younger band, the instrumentation is quite generic and just showing that the band can play. Nothing fancy with these guys. Now onto the vocals and lyrics. the vocalist can certainly sing, but we would love to hear him louder so that we can really grasp the lyrics. This is one of the problems with such a soft soothing voice. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about love, pain, relationships. These are the basis of the songs on the album. They are a little hard to figure out if the person in each song is trying to get away or have them come, but it makes you think on the lyrics. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the album. Nighttime In Kansas have released their debut album as one that doesn't hid anything or try to be anything it isn't. This is a very indie ambient album and you can tell this is the sound the band wants. We think these guys did a pretty good job for a debut and we can't wait to see what else they come up with. Waterbodies have released their third album titled "What The French Call "Les Incompétents"" This album is one that follows along the same path, in both style and sound as the band has come to be known for on their last two albums. The band has a very indie rock sound that seems to be the way more bands are going theses days. These two songs have a feel of being like Tokyo Police Club or a Born Ruffians, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, these two songs have been recorded with just the right balance of grungy dirty rock and crisp clean production. The instrumentation on the album is nothing that is going to turn an ear, but they have good solid regular play to them. Nothing flashy, just playing. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are not bad. He has a bit of a raspy, indie tinge to his voice and sounds very similar to the Tokyo Police Club singer. He can certainly sing and his vocals are clear enough that you can hear all the words. Not a bad job all in all. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of relationships and how the singer acts, as well as kids just being kids with no direction to follow. These are not your typical song lyrics, they do give you a little insight into thinking about both subjects. Not bad. If you are looking for a song to give a listen to, we suggest "What The French Call "Les Incompétents"" as this is the title track and the better of the two.Waterbodies have made 2 songs that are both different in subject matter but have the same feel. Romancer have released their second album titled "Honeybee." This album follows the same style and sound that the band came up with on their previous album. They have an ambient Emo feel that is very unique but confusing at the same time. This band has a sound that is really all their own, they go from slow to fast and slow all within one song. We like the fact the band doesn't really sound like anyone. They have done a pretty good job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded quite well, while still having an underground band feel to it. The instrumentation is quite good for all the changes the band does. These guys can certainly play and do it well. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are something more of a soft, soothing sound to them, but he can also bring it when the tempo changes and belt out some strong vocals. He can certainly sing, and they are all very clear lyrics. Great job overall. With the lyrics, the band goes for very real and honest subjects, these song have a way of being vague and hard to really get the meaning out of the songs, but they tend to make you focus more on the songs this way. The song Still talks about how are parents are getting older and if we still have time with them. this is a subject a lot of people are facing now in the age demographic for this band Solid job on these lyrics. If you are looking for a single to this album, the band has decided to make "Nausicaa" a single, so give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Romancer have made their second album quite similar to the previous one, and it really shows how the band is making a more mature style of this genre . The band also likes to play shows quite a bit, so they are getting out there and grabbing fans as they go. Solid job on the album. Elos Arma have released their second album titled "This Is The Sh*t" This album follows along the same principals as their previous album in terms of style and sound. This has a very ambient indie sound here which is quite popular at this time. They have a similar sound to bands like Alvvays or even someone like KID, so if you are into either of those artists, you could like this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been made quite well actually. The instrumentation is nothing special, but they can play and the music sounds pretty good. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are very soft and light. They give you that airy feeling and can appeal to a wide range of people. He can certainly sing and it is nice and clear so you can hear all the lyrics. With the lyrics, the band has decided to go for messages of not changing people, relationships, not being able to be happy with what you have or can get and more. These are things that a lot of younger people face, so I think these could really hit with that base. Good job overall on the lyrics. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Oh The Light" your attention as it is the best song on the album and gives you the best overall perception of the album. Elos Arma have made a different sort of album that seems to work well with what is popular right now in the rock scene. Hopefully we will see this band continue and get more people into them. Romancer have released their debut album titled "As We Both Close In On The Water." This album shows the band doing a newer style of Pop Punk, with that sloppy yet ambient spin they have decided to add to their music. This album has a similar sound to that of Brand New and Neck Deep, so if you are into both of those bands, you could like this album. The guys have done a really nice job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded quite well, while still managing to keep their raw pop punk sound intact. The instrumentation on the album is not bad, the band can play, and they mix it up a bit with the fast and more melodic songs. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are done fairly well, their singer can sing and he has a nice voice that can go from singing to screaming with ease. fairly good overall here. With the lyrics, the band seems to hit topics of living life, relationships weather it with the opposite sex, friends or family. They also sing about the struggles, good times and memories of what life gives you. Their lyrics are not quite as direct as other bands go but it really makes you listen and absorb the songs. If you are looking for a single on this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Romancer have made a fairly decent album that is nice to hear. Elos Arma is a band that will surprise you upon first listen. This is what happened to us when we first pressed the play button on the bands debut album "Good News For Bad People." Their mix of indie rock with a sort of electronic/keyboard element to the music was something that instantly made us think, whoa this is different. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the band has made a conscious effort that their debut "welcome to..." album would be one that has a great sound, and that they did. Now the instrumentation is nothing that will blow you away, but the keyboard addition to the music and the way they do it, brings a new element to this music. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocalist can sing which is always a plus but the lyrics here could use a bit of a touch up to really get the point of the songs across more. If you are looking for a single for this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Elos Arma have come out of the gate pretty well here with this album and we hope that the band keep experimenting and keep on the path they are going with this music. When Waterbodies write an album, they go for a big indie sound that fills the room while still being rough. The band have achieved just that on their album "The Evil We Know". This album does also have some softer more melodic songs and the transition between the two has been done well. With the recording of this album, they have done a decent sounding indie album that has pretty good instrumentation on it. When looking at the lyrics, the band have written some lyrics that are a little out there but the singing is decent here. If yiu want a song to listen to, give the song "Borgata" a listen as this song starts slow but builds up and has a great bass line. The song also show you how the album is. An album like this that has indie written all over it, needs to be listened to by the indie fans. So give it a listen, make your own mind up about it and pay attention to what the band does next.

Lifestory: Monologue have released their fifth album titled "Drag Your White Fur, Make It Grey" This album follows along with the bands signature style of spoken word along with ambient music around the lyrics. The album doesn't stray off from what you are used to from the band and nothing has been really added to the sound of anything, just Lifestory as you know them. Again the album has been recorded and played beautifully, especially with the different sounds they like to use, such as the violin bow across the guitar strings. This band is a really unique band as people are not doing what they are doing inside the kinds of bands they find themselves associated with. Doing all of this and making their songs really long makes this bandvery attention getting. The song to listen to on this album would be "Candles" as this song exemplifys what the band is all about the most and it has great lyrics. Elephant have released their debut album "The Violet Hour." This album is a pretty soft calming album, so if you are into quieter music, you should really like this one. The band really has done a great job on this album, all fourteen tracks have a beautiful feel to them and the lyrics are pretty decent. When looking at the instrumentation, these guys can play their instruments well, and the guitarist even uses a bow on the strings for a bit. The song "Space and Time" is a song you should listen to so you get the total feel of what this album is all about. Overall, this is a well done album, so listen to it.
