Vesperia have released their debut full length album titled "Voyage From Vinland." Now this album brings the same style and sound that the band came with on their demo album, just more refined and a bigger taste. The band really goes for that Nordic, old time, viking feel in their music, which really sets the picture for this album. They have a similar sound to that of bands like Wintersun and to an extent Korpiklaani. If you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well, bit it could use the slightest of touches up here and there. The band definitely has the instrumentation down pat, which is needed if you are going to play this type of metal. solid overall. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are similar to their demo as he can get those low growls and still be understood. He does know what he is doing and has the distinct sound made for this genre. With the lyrics, the band have gone for that epic journey, across bairn wastelands, battle songs that you would get the story of a group of vikings with. They have that sort of epicness with a soundscape and picture built into it so it's pretty sweet. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Vesperia have done a pretty solid job on their debut full length album and it's nice to see a band going a different route than most in the area. Vesperia have released their debut album which is their demo. This one really shows the band in that European metal way, like a band from Finland or Sweden. These guys have that very brutal sort of viking metal feel to them and it certainly is something that doesn't appeal to every metal fan, but it does have its place.This band has a similar sound to that of Wintersun or a Moonsorrow, so if you like those bands, you could like these guys. They have done an alright job on this. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded okay, it could use a little work to make it hit you harder though. The bands instrumentation is pretty solid though. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals have been done pretty solid, he has a kind of Dani Filth sound to him which is pretty cool and then the secondary vocals are pretty clear, while sounding vikingish here. With the lyrics, they seem to be very intricate and things the more metal, sword loving, long hair guys like and can appreciate, like slaves, winter and the land. if you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Now this album isn't going to appeal to everyone, but those guy who really like this type of metal will be into this. They have done a good job and it really has that feel, but it comes from a Canadian band. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
