Pkew Pkew Pkew (Gunshots) has released their debut album titled "Royalty". This album has a very dirty and raw sound, kind of like a garage punk band. These guys seem to be following the trend of Indie punk bands in this area lately. They have a similar sound to that of Single Mothers and The Dirty Nil, so if you are into those bands, you will like this album. They have done an alright job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty good standard. Although the album is pretty distorted, rough and raw, it feels like the band has done that on purpose. This feels like they have achieved that without loosing quality in the songs. The instrumentation is pretty standard. These guys can play, and it sounds good, but you aren't going to get anything crazy that turns your head. Not bad. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are right down the middle pretty much. Their song "Asshole Pandemic" has a lot of gang vocals on it. The rest of the album is filled with melodic music words, such as "ohh" and the like. These guys can sing, and do the gang/duel vocals pretty well, minus one of two spots where you can hear one person a little ahead of the other. Overall, the vocals aren't too over the top or subpar for their style, it works really well. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about people being jerks, friends looking after each other, girls, and the typical industry execs. These lyrics seem like they work with young adults and the things that happen through that time in your life. This is what we feel is the target for these songs. Not bad all in all. If you are looking for a single to this album, try either "Asshole Pandemic" or "Stop Callin' Us, Chief" these two songs really show what this band is about, and are awesome songs. They will give you the best idea of the band. Pkewx3 have released a debut album that just gives you and idea of what the band is like and what they are about. These songs aren't mind blowing, but they are good and show off a bit of a new style. We recommend you give this album a listen, even if its just to decide what you think about the band.
