Lioness - Lioness

1. You're My Heart
2. Harder They Fall
3. Dark Matter
4. Haunted Magick
5. What You Do (Will Come Back To You)

Lioness have released their debut album, which they have decided to self title. This band has really gone for quite the indie sound with their music.Their music has a sound that feels like the The Balconies singer and the music of Metric, so if you are into either of those bands, you could like this music. We think this album fits quite well into the music more canadian rock bands are making right now. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded pretty well, but it still has that bit of rawness that makes indie fans really feel the true indieness of the album. The instrumentation of the album is nothing really to go crazy about, the band can play, and it is on a level of most of the other bands out there. The band is right in the middle on this album. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are done quite well. You can tell the singer has a good range and hits them perfectly. She can certainly sing, and it meshes well with the music. We are quite impressed with their singer. With the lyrics, the band goes for more of a spooky, haunted way of getting their message out. Their lyrics do have relationships, love, doing whats right, and more. We think this is a cool way of going about the topic, in a very dark, haunted, spooky type of way in the words they choose. Not bad at all. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "You're My Heart" your attention as it is the best song on the album and really gives you that intro into their music. Lioness have made a debut album that is really full of big riffs and indie styling. The band has done a nice job to give this a little bit of a different style than the typical indie band, and we think it has worked. Now all thats left is to get out there and bring it to people. We hope to see more from the band and see what their music develops into. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
