The Synaesthetic - Distractions

1. Perfume
2. The Watering Hole
3. Comatose
4. Doom Blue

The Synaesthetic have released their debut album titled "Distractions." This album is quite the angry alternative rock album. They have a sound that could work on the radio but also feels like an angry part of a play happening. These guys have a similar sound to that of The Tea Party or a band like Soundgarden, so if you like those artists, you could possibly like this band. They have done a pretty decent job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a solid sound for the time. The instrumentation is pretty good here as well, since the band is so up and down like a rock symphony. These guys do it quite well and still sound good. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album sound pretty decent here as you can certainly hear the words nice and clearly. Their vocalist has a bit of a twangy voice that goes with 90's style of singing, bet he does it well and you can tell his talent. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of relationships and not having them work out, not falling for peoples tricks just to get back in, and having people stay away from you. These seem like the lyricist was having a hard time with a relationship and we can totally understand that. We can't really relate exactly to what he is singing about, but we can relate to why he is. We think a lot can. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. The Synaesthetic have made a debut sort of welcome to album that really seems to have a crazy vocalist going all over the place with his vocal range. We feel if he cut it back a bit, they could appeal to more people. We do however certainly like it and can't wait to see what comes up next. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
