The Capitol have released their debut album titled "Far From Freedom." This album has a very light sort of alternative rock sound to it. The songs seem to be very keyboard driven and have a 90's feel. They have a similar sound to that of a Our Lady Peace or an  Oasis, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. They've done an okay job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, it sounds okay until the vocals come in, the band gets louder and the drums kick in. It has a bit of that feeling when you used to turn the tv on loud and would just get that static sound. The instrumentation on the album is just alright, they can play, but it's nothing you haven't heard before really. Quite average. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are quite good, the singer can sing and has a great voice. Unfortunately the vocals are not very well recorded so they suffer. We can tell the vocal talent here though. With the lyrics, the band goes for those breaking relationship stories and really the process of breaking up. We know a lot of people can understand this, but it has been overdone and not really unique. Listen to the band as a whole though, we can tell something could be there. If you are looking for a single, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. The Capitol have made a debut album that shows potential but you have to dig a bit for it through the bad recording of this album. We think the band could get better and they do have a commercial sound so we will see. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
