Heart Attack Kids have released their second album which they decided to self title. This album has a very Punk and fast rock feel to it that seems to be the newer style of punk nowadays. These guys have a similar sound to that of The Dirty Nil, or PUP but are a two piece band. If you like The Dirty Nil or PUP, you could like this band. they have done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded as a more raw album. The vocals are a little too far in the back and we would love them to be more upfront, but the music has been recorded pretty well. The instrumentation is pretty solid for a two man group here, you can really tell the drummer is talented. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are a little bit rashy, and have a very punk feel to them. The vocalist is a little hard to tell what he is saying, with his vocal style being so screamy, but it really works with what the band is trying to do. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of bad relationships, not really caring about things and just being a punk in general. They also sing about attacking things head on. These are a little different than your typical song messages, but they are more of a punk lifestyle with their lyrics and they work with what the band is trying to do. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Platonic Love Bomb" your attention as it is the best song on the album and starts the album off with a bang. It will also give you an idea of how the rest of the album is. Heart Attack Kids have made their second album really hit with the style they are going for. This is a nice album if you are into the punky indie rock, we are not but that's okay. Now this band just needs to get out more. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
