Bela Clava have released their debut album titled "Cold Spell." This album is one that pretty much follows the route of a lot of other bands who have older members in the band. They have an older feel that just doesn't seem to have the appeal to hit the main target market. These guys have a similar sound to that of Heart or a heavier Fleetwood Mac with an 80's twist, so if you are into those, you could like this album. The band has done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well, but it could still use just a little more work to get the vocals clearer. The instrumentation seem fairly average, with hints of decent guitar work here and there. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album just seem to stale. Yes she can certainly sing but they don't seem to excite. With the lyrics, they could use a little work to get more in depth and to get out of the typical rock lyrics. Not bad, but there is still some work to be done here. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song to get the idea of this album. Bella Clava's debut album is a start. They give you an idea of how they want the band to sound. Hopefully they decide to get out of the dad rock and push for more of a modern rock sound that has a bigger target market. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. We are not too fawned of it.
