Bearings - Higher Ground

1. Constant State
2. Up All Night

Bearings have released their debut album titled "Higher Ground." This album is one that really shows off a band in that new sort of emo and pop punk style tat is becoming popular right now. Bands that would be similar to Bearings are Citizen and Knuckle Puck, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. The guys have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of the album, the album has been recorded pretty well. Unfortunately the vocals are a little raw and could use a little work on a cleaner recording but all in all not too bad. The instrumentation on the album isn't bad either, they don't blow you away, but they do have solid playing ability. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are just what you are looking for in a new pop punk band, that bit of rawness while still being clear and able to tell what the singer is saying. Now onto the lyrics, the lyrics on this album are what you would typically expect with pop punk bands, a lot about girls and struggling with young adult life. These are a bit more of downer lyrics, but they do go along with what a bunch of people are feeling. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Bearings have done a pretty good job on their debut sort of welcome to album here. They have made something that is a solid base to start from and hopefully with some progression and tweaking, they can bring it to where this will really get them something. We do really like this album and band so listen to this one to decide for yourself what you think of it and them.
