1. Bourgeois
2. Barely Breathing
3. Bespin
4. Bipolar Vortex
5. Thirty Below
The Truth Today have released their debut album which they have decided to self title. This album starts the band off in a typical post hardcore way. These guys have a similar sound to that of a Ghost Inside or a Like Moths To Flames, so if you like those bands, you could like this one. They have done an okay job on their album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to an average degree here. It just doesn't have that polished feel to it when listening to the songs. The bands instrumentation is not bad, you can tell they can play to an alright degree. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocalist who screams seems like he is forcing the screams a bit too much and they loose that quality. At times the clean vocals sound like they are done really well, but then other times they get jumbled with the screams to make a hard to listen to few seconds. Cleans are quite good, but the screams could be worked on here. With the lyrics, the band follows that typical post hardcore pattern of despair and loss which is totally okay, but it would be nice to hear more positive and meaningful lyrics. If you are looking for a single to this album, listen to the song "Barely Breathing" as this is the song the band made a lyric video for and it has guest vocals on it. This song also has the best example of the sound of the band. The Truth Today have made a debut sort of welcome to album that give the band a base in the post hardcore field. They have something here that if worked on, could become something, as you can hear bright spots in the album. All that is left now is to work on the live stuff and get out there playing more. Listen to this a lbum to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
