A Primitive Evolution, or A.P.E. as they like to be called, are a hard rock band that likes to add a little bit of that horror element to their craft. This can be heard on their debut self-titled album. A Primitive evolution is an album that in the grand scheme of things, doesn't really wow you are break away, define itself from the ever crowded rock that fills the radio. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well, but it just needs a little touch here or there. The albums instrumentation is decent though, nothing to blow you away but solid none the less. Now onto the lyrics and the vocals, the lyrics have been written pretty well, but they need a little more meaningful message to them whereas the vocals are good for that sort of raspy rock vocals that seem to be popular. If you are looking for a single to this album, listen to the song "Beyond True" as it is the best song on the album and it shows off the feel of the album the best. A Primitive Evolution have done a good job on this album. We do hope that the band continues with their progression and hopefully shapes their sound to be a little more their own, while bringing something unique to the music. Keep playing shows and get the name out there. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
