The Maysides have released their debut album titled "Evicted." When you first put on this album, you get blasted with a different kind of vocal style which is nice to hear. This album has none of the traditional traits you would expect to hear in a pop - punk album, which makes you think, are they even that kind of music or are they just pretending? either way, this is an alright album. The album has a decent recording quality, so its at least n the upswing. This band is able to play their instruments but its quite standard, which is okay on a first album, so hopefully they spice it up in the future. It was nice to hear a slower song here with "Time Machine" and the organ opening was a cool touch to the song. When listening to the song "Kegger" that song sounds like a douchebag anthem, so here you go douchebags, live it up on this song. Now the song to listen to is "1000 Friends" as it is the best written and lyrical content on this album, so listen to it first. Overall this band has done an alright job on their first album, hopefully they progress and tweak the music to find a good medium both in the musical and lyrical sense of the form, good effort. Give this album a listen and see what these guys are all bout and make your own opinions about the songs.
