Incase We Crash - Constantly Changing

1. Straight To The Head
2. Let's Start
3. Carry On
4. You're My Water
5. Bump This

Incase We Crash have released their debut album titled "Constantly Changing". As a debut album, the title is a little odd. This gives off the impression that, if you like this album, the next one won't be like this, we are changing. This title is more suited for a second album, but hey.  These pop punkers seem to just be all over the place. It has a mix of being the new style, while having the old poppy parts to it. They also have a weird dynamic to them. These guys, with the kind nothing really works, but put it all together, his a very Man Overboard trait, so if you like them, you could like this album. They have done an okay job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to an average sound that in some aspects help with the style the band is trying to go for here.

The instrumentation on the album is pretty average as well, and doesn't turn a head really at all. This does however help with that sloppy man overboard sound though.

Now onto the vocals and lyrics. The vocals are admittedly not something we are into. They have a bit of a whiny feel to them, and that turns us off. He is pretty clear though, and you can tell just what they are singing about, so this is good. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about what seems like a bad breakup and the singer can't really get over it. This is kinda hard to listen to as a "hey I want you back." but its alright for a debut EP. Not bad overall.

If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Straight To The Head." your attention, as that song shows off what the band goes for the most on the album.

Incase We Crash are a little bit all over the place here, and have a lot of elements of different styles here. Hopefully with the next album, they have a more defined sound, and know what they want. Every band has to start somewhere though right? We aren't big on it, but we appreciate the foundation. We can't wait to see what is next. Listen to this album and decide for yourself what you think of it.

Carried Away - Start Over

1. Whispered Riots
2. Forever Lost
3. Expectations
4. July
5. Start Over

Carried Away have released their second album titled "Start Over." This album is one that continues the same style and sound the band used on their debut album. They have a very generic female fronted pop rock sound. This isn't a sound that you can relate to many established bands, as most of the bands with this female singing style don't really make it. The bands we can relate this band to are bands like Aria, The Maddigans or Call Atlantis if you know those bands. They haven't done a bad job on the album. Looking at the recording process of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent standard. Every song has that poppy rock sound and is very clear in every element. The guys made sure everything was clean. The instrumentation on this album however is pretty standard. As with most albums in this genre, especially the pop side of pop punk, the bands don't really go too crazy, and make sure everything is just standard. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are decent, and she can certainly sing. However nothing is really unique or captivating about them. There are a lot of female singers who sound exactly like this, and it is a limiting factor to how far the band can go. She is very clear and you can hear every word she sings, which is whats needed because they will need lyrics to shine for the band. We would also like to point out that, however this album is their latest, three of the songs were released 6 months to a year before this album came out, including the single and music video for this album. Being that the album is only five songs long, and with the way we consume music today, 60% of the album was already old. This is a huge problem, as the album is already considered stale to fans of the band. If you are looking for a single for this album, the single is "Expectations", so give that song a listen to get the idea of the album. Carried Away have made a second album that follows their sound from their debut and sounds really good. However if this band wants to stay fresh and relevant, there has to be a new album soon. Hopefully this band will decide to tour more and bring their music to people who don't know them, to erase some of the damage done here. With all this said, this is pretty much a flop. Listen to this album and decide for yourself what you think of it.

Hindsight - Expended

1. Expended
2. Collide

Hindsight have their second release, a two song EP titled "Expended". This album follows along the same sound and style as their previous effort. These guys have an almost grungy, punky, rock feel to them which seems to be coming back recently. These guys have a similar sound to that of Citizen or a Teenage Wrist, so if you like either of those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a pretty good job on these two songs. When looking at the recording quality of these songs, they have been recorded to a pretty decent sound. Collide seems to be recorded just a little bit better than Expended is, but they both have a dirty, grungy, bit of a lo-fi sound to them. We are pretty sure that this is the style they are going for, but as well could be cleaned up a bit and had the screamed vocals up a bit. The instrumentation on this album is pretty standard, with this music you are not going to get those crazy solos or guitar gods, just some nice solid music. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are pretty calm and soothing at times here, they have certainly decided to go for a softer approach to the vocals. Both songs start soft and build up to screams, then trail off. With the lyrics for Expended are about self pity and being down, as well as trying to become something else and not being able to reach it. On the song Collide, the band sings about messing up and struggling in a relationship. Both of the song here are very down and needing of hope to make things better. This is very good for anyone who is into that emo, grunge style of music. If you are looking for a single, give, "Expended" your attention, but its only two songs, so give them both a listen to get the feel of this band. Hindsight have made an EP that is a heartfelt, down in the dumps, feel for them album. They have a lot here in these two songs and we hope to see them continue to grow and make music. We can't wait to see whats next. Listen to this band to decide for yourself what you think of it.

Among Legends - Starting Over

1. It Doesn't Matter What We Do
2. Final Curtain Call
3. Reparations
4. Punk Rock Hoser
5. Half Past Nine
6. Renegade
7. The Wall

Among Legends have released their second album titled "Starting Over." This album has more of an original pop punk sound to it. Unfortunately, this band, as well as many other bands have trouble moving from the music they like after it becomes no longer popular. This band has a really Alkaline Trio and a bit Blink-182 sound to them, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. They have done alright on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album seems like it could use a bit better mix and the songs seem to need more volume to them. Other than that, this album seems alright. The instrumentation on the album sounds alright also, it just doesn't have a wow factor to it, although the band can certainly play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals here are not bad, and you can clearly hear every word the singer is saying. however it could use the vocals to be more upfront in the mix so we can hear them more. He can certainly sing, we just wish it wasn't as quiet. With the lyrics, the bands goes for songs about relationships and fighting for what you want. These seem to be the two main subjects the vocalist wants to bring to the listeners attention. We feel that a lot of songs are about relationships in one form or another, so it would of been nice to hear something a little different. The rest of the songs have a message that people could use, as fighting for what you want can be a good thing. Make things in your life happen as you want them to. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Punk Rock Hoser" your attention as it is the best song on the album. Among Legends have made their second album a very Alkaline Trio influenced piece of work. We like to hear more of a bands own style in their music, but this wasn't bad. We think with some tweaks and making the music more their own, this could really work. Now the band just needs to get out and play more to get their music heard more. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.

Harbour - Dead In The Water

1. These Nights
2. Timmins
3. 90210
4. Disbanded By Doubt
5. Set In Stone
6. 7 Days

Harbour have released their fourth EP titled "Dead In The Water." This album is a bit of a weird one as the band took so long to finish it and it was supposed to be a full length. What we got was six songs of pop punk music. This is also the bands indie label debut. They have a similar sound to that of early 2000's punk and pop punk combined, so if you were more of a 2000's punk person, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent level that gives these sounds a good sound. The instrumentation is pretty standard on this album. The band can certainly play and they do show off a little bit on the album, but for the most part it is pretty standard. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are pretty much the same as their previous album, if you have heard those before. Their vocalist can certainly sing and sing well, but they have pretty much stuck with the same things they have been doing all along. With the lyrics, the band has gone for songs about relationships for the most part. This is pretty typical for bands in this genre to sing about, as it is the easiest and lots of people at the age of this band can relate to this subject. Not bad all in all. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "7 Days" your attention, as it is the best song on the album and the one that gives you the best idea of how the album sounds. Harbour's fourth EP is one that unfortunately doesn't quite stand up to their previous album. They just don't have a song that is instantly catchy like "Grade School Summer" was. Although this is still a decent album, none of these songs are going to take over for that song or album. We also hope to see this band get out there and play more, and play shows in other towns where they are the support instead of the headliner. The band hasn't toured much since this album came out and we'd like to see that change. Decent job all in all. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.

Coldfront - Is This Where They Found You?

1. Molly Blooms
2. Reduced
3. Shed Light
4. Up
5. Lifted

Coldfront have released their third album titled "Is This Where They Found You?" This album is a small taste of how the band wants to progress and move in their career. They have the main components of their previous work and still have a conldfront sound, while putting a bit more of a pro feel to it. This band has a similar sound to that of Seaway or Like Pacific, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album could of used a little bit more production and polish in a couple areas, but all in all it sound pretty good. The instrumentation is nothing that is really going to make you turn your head, but they do know how to play. They have a nice solid playing ability here. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are pretty decent. He can certainly sing, but more in a raspy punk style than a clear voice. His voice may not appeal to everyone, but he does well for the style the band is going for. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about girls/relationships and vices. These are the more typical subjects for pop punk bands to sing about, but they do an alright job on it.There is nothing too ground breaking with the lyrics, they just do a pretty good job at repackaging the same topics as many other pop punk bands. Not too bad though. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Molly Blooms" your attention as it is the best song on the album and really gives you an idea of how the rest of the album sounds. Coldfront's label debut EP is one that shows the band does have potential but also will need a little work to make themselves stand out in the global pop punk scene. Not bad all in all. Now the band just needs to actually get out there and play shows. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

King Pin - Damaged Goods

1. Plea
2. Brother
3. Parachute
4. Exhale
5. Distance

King Pin have released their debut album titled "Damaged Goods." This album is one that really shows the band in that new style of pop punk that has an emotional side to it. They have a sing talk style to their music which we have seen a few bands make it on that kind of music. They have a similar sound to that of Being As An Ocean, Say Anything and Trophy Eyes with a more punk feel to them, so if you are into either of those bands, you could like King Pin. They have done a not so bad job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent standard while still be a bit raw. The instrumentation is not going to wow you, but the band can play and carry themselves. All in all, on the average side. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, with the vocals, the singer can sing pretty well, and he is also quite clear, despite his screaming vocal style. He does the talk sing style well also. Not bad for a rougher edge new pop punk project. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages about depression, regret, being down, wishing for a day to never end and more. These are very personal and emotionally driven lyrics. We feel that people can feel for the vocalist and maybe see themselves in these lyrics as well. Hopefully they show that the listener isn't the only one having these problems. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. King Pin have made a debut sort of welcome to album that hides nothing. They let you know the feelings and thoughts of the band right from the get go. We like this honest style they have chosen to go with. Hopefully we can see more and watch the band spread out their music to more towns. Not a bad album. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Carried Away - Intrepid

1. Actions
2. Stories
3. Growing Up
4. Afraid To Be

Carried Away have released their debut album titled "Intrepid." This album is a very typical female fronted pop punk band, from the vocal style to the music in general, very generic. They have a sound which doesn't really have a hint of their own style of music yet here. The album has a similar sound to that of The Maddigans or We Are The In Crowd, so if like those bands, you could like this album. They have done a pretty good job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty good quality. The instrumentation on this album is pretty average, the band can certainly p lay, but it is nothing that is going to get someone to turn their head and notice the band. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are good, she can certainly sing, unfortunately it's a bit of an amateur style and sound here. A perfect example would be The Maddigans who have played shows in 19 countries, been around since 2008 and still haven't been signed by anyone yet. If the vocal style was changed up just a little to a more modern style, the band would have a better chance of succeeding. There is certainly talent here, and we think this band can succeed. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of not being controlled, relationships, how you are being treated by another and more. This album feels more like a relationships story than anything else. We feel people can connect with this, especially younger people, as they have similar situations they are dealing with or have dealt with. Not bad lyrics all in all. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album, or listen to the whole thing as it is only four songs. Carried Away have made a debut, welcome to album that shows off the sound and style the band has decided to go with. It is unfortunately a very generic style that we think with some time and massaging, this band could turn into something. There is a good foundation here and we can't wait to see what else this band can do. Now all that is left is to get out more and play more shows so more people can know about them. Not bad. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of them.

The Bartops - Punk Rock Barbershop

1. Friday Night High Tide
2. Margaret Anne
3. The Dent
4. Don't Wait Up
5. Nothing To Hide
6. A Mood And Feeling (Bought From A Store)
7. Twenty Four Confessions
8. Brand New Lullaby
9. Big City Lights
10. The Other Day Of Christmas
11. A Toast To Good Health
12. Keep Me Movin'

The Bartops have released their debut album titled "Punk Rock Barbershop." This album shows off this new band in a pretty pop punk style. They have a little bit of a 50's punk mix to their music. This band reminds us of Bowling For Soup with a mix of Chicago vocals, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. They have done a pretty good job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded pretty well, but the vocals could be louder. The instrumentation is pretty standard for what you would expect, so nothing here is really going to surprise you. The band can play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are not bad, but again not loud enough, but they can certainly sing. The vocals are nice, clear and soft as well. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of girls, relationships, and going through life. These are pretty standard lyrics, so don't expect anything to technical or sophisticated, just lyrics for the everyday dude. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. The Bartops have made a somewhat different style of punk music here. It has a sound that seems like it would hit an older target market, but is also something unique, so we aren't really sure who this would hit. We are honestly not a fan of the vocal style, but that doesn't mean you won't. Kudos for trying something different though, that is what is going to get you noticed. Hopefully we see the band get out more so that more people can find out about them. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.

Letdown - The Bottom

1. Deficiency
2. I'm Not Complex, I'm Just From One
3. Placement
4. Bottom

Letdown have released their second album titled "The Bottom." This album follows along with the same style and sound the band came up with on their debut. They have that sort of grungy, dirty style Pop Punk that hits more of the Punk side of things. They have a similar sound to that of Four Year Strong or a Major League, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. They have done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded quite well actually. The instrumentation unfortunately is nothing to really talk about, they can play their instruments solidly which is nice to see. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are fast and a bit grungy which makes the vocals a little less pleasing to the ears of some of the more casual music listeners. He can certainly sing though, and for the most part you can make out all the lyrics, which is a plus in this style of punk. not bad overall. With the lyrics, the band sings about exchanges that happen in a relationship, apologizing for growing up and changing in a way someone doesn't like, asking to be forgiven for mistakes, and being at the bottom of life. These are pretty much just relationship songs in one way or another which we feel a lot of people can get behind. If you are looking for a single to this album give the song "Bottom" your attention as it is the best song on the album and gives you a good feel for what the rest of the album is like. Letdown have made a very raw and grungy pop punk album here. They have a sound that really rings true to their hometown and it shows with the following they have there. Now just get out into more of Ontario ti get more people into them. Not bad overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.

Unit Thirty Three - Unit Thirty Three

1. The Transmission
2. Our Ships Going Down
3. Call Me Captain
4. Sing
5. The Pilot
6. Ready, Set, Go
7. A Song For Summer
8. Jump
9. This Is Outer Space
10. Kids Of The Century

Unit Thirty Three have released their second album which they have chosen to self title. This album expands on their 2 song demo which was previously released. These guys have that very pop heavy pop punk sound to them on this album. They have a similar sound to that of The Summer Set or even a Cute Is What We Aim For, so if you like those bands, you could possibly like this album. They have done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album as been recorded to a okay standard here. It's not too bad but it definitely hasn't held up very well. The instrumentation on this album is obviously pretty basic. Although the band can play, it's nothing that will blow you away. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are clear and you can hear every word, which is the good part. The negative here is that the vocal style the vocalist has decided to go with are way too high and in turn make them almost cringe worthy unfortunately. With the lyrics, again, as a new, young band, there isn't very much complexity in the lyrics. They are very much what a teenager would sing about. These songs are about girls, a few ships and space references, as well as singing about summer. These a a decent start for a young band, but we do hope they get more intellectual in the lyrics as they progress. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Unit Thirty Three have made their debut full length album a very pop heavy album that is very adolescent, but a step the band needed to take as to progress. We do see the potential in the band here and it's nice to be able to see a base formed with this album. We think it's a good job for what it is, and we hope to see this band get bigger with time. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Castlefield - The Mascot EP

1. Broken High School Mascot
2. Lifted
3. Good Job, Rover

Castlefield have released their debut album titled "The Mascot EP." This album is one that really has a new Pop Punk feel to it. They have a really nice vocal style that works with the new style of Pop Punk. When we listen to this, we get similarities to Waterparks or a Greyscale, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. We think it has been done pretty well. When looking at the recording quality of this album, we can obviously tell that there are a few flaws and the recording on both the vocals and guitar could have been better. They seem a little flat. The band does however show that they have done a pretty good job with the instrumentation here. This album has flashes that show they can amp it up a bit. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals on this album are very listenable and melodic. We like how you can hear every word and for the most part sounds calming. Good job overall. With the lyrics, the band seems to go for messages of what you and life have become after a tragic event. Being a mess and looking back on if things could have been in a relationship. A lot of this album is relationship based in the lyrics. We think many people have felt this way as well. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song or listen to the whole thing as it is only three songs. Then you will know what the band is like. Castlefield have made a debut welcome to album that shows you what the band is trying to do, while giving them room to improve. This is not a perfect album by any means, but the band has the potential to make one. We can't wait to see what else comes from this band. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
