Signifier have released their debut album titled "The Deceiver EP." This album is one that really shows off the band in a progressive metal light. These guys have a sound that is somewhat similar to a Born Of Osiris or a Miss May I, so if you like those bands, you could like these guys. This album is quite heavy and sounds great. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly decently while the instrumentation gives it a nice touch with the guitar work. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals of the screamer have been done pretty well as they are the main focus, but the background vocals could use a little work in being louder and a touch clearer. With the lyrics, they seem to have a bit of an aggressive undertone to them and but also have an alright message to them that goes with this style of music. If you are looking for a single for this album, give the song "Evolve" your attention as this song is the best on the album and it shows off the feel of the album the best, plus it features Alex from Sleep When You're Dead on it. Signifier have done a pretty decent job on their debut album here. Now it could have been done a little louder and clearer for sure, but overall it is not a bad album to listen to. We hope with some touches this band can really do something with this. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
