Humanities and Low Sun have released the split EP titled "Human Sun." This album is one that really shows off the 80's underground rock style of both of these bands. Both go very well together as they both have the same sort of sound in their music. They don't really have a similar artist that we could tell you either band sound like, but they do have an 80's rock sound, so if you like the 80's, you could like this album. This album has been done alright. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded pretty rough to give both bands a very underground, sloppy feel. We think this was done purposely as that is how the bands want to be heard. On a side note Low Sun's songs seem to be recorded just a little better. The instrumentation of both bands is pretty good, and shows they can play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals for Humanities tracks are very loud and grungy. They still have vocals that are able to be understood and get the meaning of the songs though. Low Sun has taken more of a nice, flowy, regular vocal approach to their songs. Nice and clear vocals that could be polished to sound good in any genre. Now onto the lyrics. Humanities two songs have messages of anger and life. The thirst for things and being lost. It's a little hard to grasp, but still alright lyrics. Low Sun's songs seem to be more about being down, wanting to change and seeking refuge from the bad things that happen in life. They have a very hippie vibe to their lyrics. If you are looking for a single here, there isn't one, so just listen to all for songs and get the idea of both of these bands. Humanities and Low Sun have made a split album that isn't something for the mainstream people to grasp, it is a more out there type of music and really hits that underground rock person. Hopefully they can get a little better recordings and tour more so people will know both bands. Good effort and hope to see more in the future. Listen to this album to get the feel of both bands and to decide for yourself if you like it.
