Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide have released their debut album which they decided to self title. These guys have a really Celtic rock feel to them that really doesn't have the most modern sound and has lost the appeal pretty much. They have a similar sound to that of Mumford & Sons or possibly an american Flogging Molly. If you like these artists, you could like this band. They have done a pretty good job on this release. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well for being a debut album. The instrumentation on the album is pretty decent for more basic instruments the band uses. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocalist here has a really nice voice that works perfectly with this type of music. He is nice, clear and every word is able to be heard. We like it. With the lyrics, the band has decided to go for messages of having a good time with the guys, having bad luck and pretty much that older more simple lyrics that the 50's had in them. They also obviously have songs about girls and relationships as well. Then the song Rising Tide gets you going. These songs are really more easy to get the lyrics and meanings of the songs. They have a more fun, just listen to type of feel than most other bands. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Molly Malloy" your attention as it is the best song on the album and starts the album off right. This song will also give you an idea of the rest of the album. Dustin Jones & The Rising Tide have made a debut, sort of welcome to album that is simple and very listenable. They have something here that is not for everyone, but they do the celtic rock quite well. Now all that is left is to get out and play more.
