My Dear Malice have released their debut album titled "Phantom." This album shows off the band in a very heavy thrashing of death metal. They have a sound going that really targets the heavy fan. The band has a similar sound to that of Miss May I or even a more metal than hardcore Chelsea Grin. If you like either of these artists, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to and alright level but cold use some work to get the overall recording up just to that next level and have that top professional sound. The instrumentation isn't bad here, the band can play and they show it off on this album, it is probably the highlight of the album. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals here aren't bad but could use a little work when it comes to overall clarity. He can do the growls nicely though. With the lyrics, the band tends to go in a more typical style where they try to be metal as opposed to really get out a message with their music. This can be good because not everyone wants to have music they have to think about. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen. My Dear Malice have done a debut album that really gives them a base and something for people to know what they are about. Hopefully we can see more and pushed harder. Pretty good overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
