Dorian Gray have released their debut album which they have decided to literally call "Self Titled." This album shows off a band in their early stages of trying to be a metalcore band. They have the same sort of stye as a Norma Jean or a Tony Tap Dance Extravaganza, so if you like those bands, you could like these guys. They haven't done that bad of a job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, you can tell that it could use some work for sure, but what is here is a solid start to a band that can only go up. They are not bad at playing either. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are not bad, but they could use a little work, and the recording of the vocals needs a bit of work to get it so you can hear them better. With the lyrics, they are very much what you would expect from a young metalcore band. They are all about, hate, relationships and anger, which is not a bad thing, it is just what everyone seems to talk about in their songs. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Dorian Gray have done an alright job on their debut sort of welcome to album here. It has enough stuff that they can work on to get better and make the next album go up, and it shows the direction the band is heading in. With some progression, this could really be something here. Overll, good job. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
