Farewell To Freeway -- Shadybrook Sessions

1. In A Dream
2. No Stranger
3. Everlasting
4. Passive
5. One Mans Burden

Farewell To Freeway have released their second EP titled "Shadybrook Sessions." This album has quite the amateur feel to it, and doesn't really represent the sound and style you are used to hearing of Farewell To Freeway. The band has a more alternative sound going on here, and it sounds kinda rough. This does however give you a look back into how the band started and where they came from. This album kinda has more of a Grade feel to me, so if you like that band, you may like this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album have been done pretty roughly. This is mostly due to the age of the album and how early it was into the bands career. You listen to this as more of a, look how far they have come, than judge on quality. In the instrumentation, you can tell that the band does have something there, and that foundation is being laid down here. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are very much like an older emo band, but they are good and the singer can sing. We can hear his lyrics clearly, and feel with a better recording, this could sound pretty solid really. With the lyrics, the band has decided to go for songs about relationships, and hard times. These are things younger bands seem to write songs about, and a lot of the fans can relate to. We feel they have done it in more of a way that you have to listen in a bit more than the typical, right out there songs more bands do. Not a bad job all in all. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. Farewell To Freeway have made an album that goes a little bit off in a different direction, but shows growth and gives them more of a catalog to pull from. Not bad, and we can't wait to see whats next for these guys. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P)
