Sleeper Set Sail - A Foreword

1. Lifejacket
2. The Redeemer
3. Patterns In Your Dash
4. Phases
5. People Say It Makes Me Look Younger

Sleeper Set Sail have released their debut EP entitled "A Foreword". This album is one that really shows off the two sides of emo music. They have the nice vocals, along with the bit of craziness in the music. These guys are similar to that of a Moneen, Brand New or Attack In Black, so if you liked any of these bands, you could like these guys too. Not band here on this album.

When looking at the recording quality of the album, this album has been recorded to a pretty decent level. The songs are pretty clear and crisp while having a listenable quality. However the vocals could be a little louder, as they sound like they are in the background too much on certain songs. The instrumentation on this album isn't too bad. You can certainly tell this band can play, and they are changing it through the song. Now this band doesn't do anything crazy that the average listener can just pick up, but they go a good job of playing. We certainly like this part of the album best as they have stretches of showcasing their musical skills in may of the songs.

Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are done well, and you can tell that Casey can sing. He has a nice smooth voice that helps you be album to hear just exactly what he is saying, and what the themes of the songs. This is a nice start for sure. With the lyrics, Casey goes for song about relationships, and using things like the ocean and waves to get his story across. These songs have a sadness to them in the lyrics and way they are sung, but that helps you feel the emotion in them. If you manage to get what he is saying, these are pretty relatable songs.

If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Phases" your attention as it is our favourite song from the album, and it really gives you an idea of what the album sounds like as a whole.

Sleeper Set Sail have made an album that really shows their style and sound off. This gives them a nice base to start from and gives the listener an idea of what the band is doing. This also gives them something to play shows off of. We feel like people are going to like this. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think about it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
