Howl Said The Wolves - Oppror

1. Hobson's Choice
2. Blackline
3. Void
4. Liars Amongst Kings
5. Comatose

Howl Said The Wolves have released their debut album titled "Oppror." This album is your very stereotypical metal sounding album. This album encapsulates that old dad, metal vibes when you listen to the music. The band has that mid 90's metal feel and would be pretty similar to a Metallica, Pantara or even a Devil Driver, so if you are into those bands bands, you could like this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent sound, but we feel the vocals could of been put up a bit higher so that the music doesn't drown the vocals here and there. Other than that, the album sounds good. The instrumentation on this album has been shown off right from the get go. This band can certainly play and we are glad to see that. However, the snare on the drums. I don't know if it wasn't miked properly, too tight or whatever, but it is right there in your face throwing off the rest of the mix. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album sound pretty decent. He can certainly sing and has a pretty clear voice, to where you can hear just what he is saying. With the lyrics, the band has gone for song about starting an uprising, dissatisfaction and not having choice. We feel that this is quite a bit how people feel in the world today. We like that they tried to put it in a way where they aren't just screaming in your face, you have to think about it. Not a bad job here with this. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "Comatose" your attention, as this is the best song on the album and really gives you an idea for how the res of the album sounds. All in all, not bad. Howl Said The Wolves have made a debut album that really shows the band off in a rockin' way and gives you a taste of how they want to band to be. Hopefully with the things we mentioned in here fixed, the band can really bring people to them and their music. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
