Beekeepers Society have released their debut album titled "Plastic On The Furniture." This album shows off the band in an Indie Folk style of music. This band is a bit weird though, in a sense that we get a Yes vibe from them. If you like yes or the newer style of indie music that is flooding everything right now, this band could be one for you.  They have done a pretty good job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to sound like it would have come out in the 70's/80's. This is good for the style they are going for, but it could be updated and appeal to a little bit wider of an audience. The instrumentation on this album seems to be all over place. These guys have gone with synth in the background, sax in a song and a variety of instruments for the album. The band can play, as is seen in excerpts here and there on this album. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are very soft spoken, in the vein of Max Webster or a Chicago. Along with female vocals added in, the harmony is a little different. Both the male and female backing vocals are just right, to where anyone can really be a potential listener here. They both have nice, clear vocals. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs with very experimental lyrics, which are hard to grasp just exactly what they are talking about in the songs. We can tell that there are songs about relationships and people here though. We think for those experimental fans, they will get this band well. If you are looking for a single to this album,  give the song "House Of Frost" your attention as it is the best representation of the album and gives you a sneak into the rest of the songs.
Beekeepers Society have made an album that shows off their ideas of music and what they want to portray with their music. We think there is a niche market for this band, and we hope those people find this and give it a listen. Job well done from the band. Let's see what the band can come up with next. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
