The Fatalist have released their second album titled "Dark Ecriture." This album seems to be more on the progressive side of the metalcore genre. This band like to go for that more technical style of playing and heavy loud sound that bands like that go for. The band has also added in back tracks of keyboard parts to help fill the sound. These guys have a similar sound to that of Born Of Osiris or an Acacia Strain, so if you like those bands, you could really like this album. They have done a solid job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded very well, and the back tracks meld perfectly with the music. The instrumentation on the album is pretty solid, nothing like a progressive metal band, but their playing is very solid and come through well though. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, with the vocals the singer can really give out deep screams, he has a really solid voice and you can tell he knows how to do this. The vocals are also clear enough that you can tell what he is saying, which is quite hard in this genre. Props to a solid vocal effort. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about how the world is changing in a negative way, these negative ways that people live and catch you up in them, can destroy the way you look at the world. We feel that if you get the metaphors in their songs, you can really feel a powerful message coming from these songs. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of the album. The Fatalist have gone about their previous effort and made a second album that kills. We hope the band is able to get this out to the masses and have people hear it, they have something here. We also hope the band can tour this and get out to more places so people can find them as well. great album. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
