Kumonga have released their debut album which happens to be self titled. This album has a very radio friendly rock feel to it that makes a lot of people able to enjoy it. They like to add keyboards to their music as well. These guys have a similar sound to that of a Kiss or even a band like Twisted Sister, so if you like those type of classic rock bands, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job here. When  looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded pretty well here. The instrumentation is pretty solid here, the band can play and they certainly rock. Great guitar work especially here. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, with the vocals, the singer seems to want to do that Metallica style "yeah" in the vocals which just doesn't fit the music here. However the singer can sing and he is clear so that helps out quite a bit. With the lyrics, the band goes for a lot of rock and roll style songs, nothing heavy and nothing really to think about, just good old rock songs while singing about things like marmalade. Unfortunately there is no real substance to this, but they are a fun band you don't need to think much about to enjoy. If you are looking for a single, give the song "Look Out Below" your attention as that is the best song on the album and really shows what they band is about. Kumonga have made a debut album that lacks substance, but rocks hard and shows the bands talent. You can tell the band is having fun here and it hits the listener too. A little tip, the band is named after the sound King Kong makes, so they are basically King Kong screaming. We hope to see the band out and playing more but we know they have professional careers as well so it may be hard. Good job overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
