1. Cold Outside
2. There's A Light On (Kitchen Song)
3. Look Away
4. Lansdowne
5. S.S. Calamity (Sink That Ship)
Brooklyn Doran has released her debut album titled "There's A Light On." This album is one that shows her in a very jazzy, folky, singer songwriter way. With the members she has in her bands playing upright bass and brass instruments, it gives a jazzy feel to her music on certain songs. She reminds us of a Norah Jones or Diana Krall, so if you are into those artists, you could really like Brooklyn. She has made a pretty good album here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly well but it has a sort of quietness with the vocals. The instrumentation on this album is pretty decent on some songs and then is lacking on others, just due to the variety of instruments used. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are not bad here as they are clear and precisely on key. She has a nice voice. With the lyrics, they are quite wonderful in their light, happy, uplifting words and stories of love. She has some really nice lyrics that give you the visual picture quite well. Brooklyn Doran has made a welcome to album that really shows off what she can do and what she is about. This is a wonderful start to her career and we can't wait to see what else she comes up with. Now all she needs to do is get out there more and make a buzz for herself. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
