Oh! The Pretty Things - Oh! The Pretty Things

1. Broke, Bored, And Sober
2. Jet Plane
3. Over And Over And Over
4. Seventeen

Oh! The Pretty Things have released their debut album. They have decided to self-title it. This album shows the band in a indie sort of rock & roll style. When you listen to this album, it has sound you would hear from 70s bands, although hard to pinpoint specific ones. If you like that type of music, you could like this band. They have done an alright job here.

When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to an alight standard. It does seem to feel like it could be a bit sharper, and the lyrics seem too much in the background, but it isn't bad. The instrumentation here feel pretty average. This feels like nothing a ton of other bands are doing in this category, but they can also play. The song Seventeen has some solos in it which are nice to hear. Overall, not bad, but nothing to blow you away either, just solid playing.

Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album sound very 70's, and have a mean ting to the vocalists singing. He can certainly sing, but with the way the vocals have been recorded, they are a bit harder to quite hear everything but you can make out most of the lyrics and what he's singing about. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about having a night out, relationships, girls, worrying about the future instead of the past, being a band at a young age. Some of these things could relate to listeners, and some just have songs about rock music. All in all, we think the band have done an alright job with the lyrics.

If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song or listen to them all. The album is only four songs so it should take too long, then you will have a good idea of this band.

Oh! The Pretty Things have made a debut album that shows everyone what the band is all about, and gives them a starting point for things. This album unfortunately isn't really something that we are into, but it doesn't mean it's bad either. We recommend you give the album a listen yourself to decide what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
