My Son The Hurricane have released their second album titled "You Can't Do This." This album is one that follows along and builds up the same sound and style as their previous release. This band is certainly something unique that no one else is doing, having a brass band behind a guy singing hip hop. There isn't really another band that can really compare to these guys, but we think that the closest would be a mix of Too Many Zooz and Down With Webster, so if you like those artists, you could like this album. They have done a solid job here.  When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty decent level here. The music is pretty crisp and clear, although we wish the lyrics were louder. We just feel the sound could of been bigger with all that brass, but then it would over power the vocals. Nice recording though. The instrumentation is quite good as well. This have a bunch of instruments all over this recording, and each one seems to have a specific part in the song, so it melds together nicely. These guys can certainly play. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album are rapped, but you can hear them nice and clearly. Sometimes he raps a little fast, so you have to pay a bit more attention. His voice doesn't quite have a musical tone to it, but thats what kind of helps in giving them a bit of an outcast feel. With the lyrics, the band goes for realistic songs about growing up and having to face the things that go with it. They also have that just feel good rocking out song about just vibing with the music.  So between the daily life lyrics and the fun, this band has hit it on both sides for their music. All in all, they have done a very good job here. If you are looking for a single to this album, give "Pushin' Up Daisies" your attention, as this is the best song on this album and probably their best song to date, so this would give you the best idea into their sound as a whole. My Son The Hurricane have made an album that expands their setlist and gives them more songs to play, while really showing their grown up way of looking at things. We feel that with the uniqueness of this band and the sensible lyrics, that this is a band you could at least give a listen to. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think about it, we like it.
