Focus Fires - Happy People

1. Grieve
2. The Well
3. Happy People

Focus Fire have released their debut album titled Happy People." This album is one that hits the new Emo Punk scene right smack dab in the middle. They have a sound that a lot of bands have gone for in the recent music days. This band has a similar sound to that of Bayside or a Trash Boat, so if you are into either of those bands, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the record has been recorded to an alright standard, but the twanging of the guitar seems to take away from the quality and hide some of the vocals and background music. The instrumentation is nothing that will revolutionize music, but the band can play and they sound like they are having fun with it. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on the album could be a little louder and more in your face here. Now we do get this is a first effort for the band but they are a little quiet here. He can certainly sing and the vocals are harmonized very well, so we can see the potential in this. Good job. With the lyrics, the band goes for messages of how to take what people are saying and believe in things, being down and not having the right person notice and relationships going sour. We feel that people can certainly relate to these lyrics and we hope that this is a release for the artist. We think that people could get into this and feel how real the music is. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song or listen to them all, as it is only three, and then you will get the feel of the album. Focus Fires have made a debut album that shows off the style and sound the band want to go with. We can see the potential there and the substance, we just hope to see the band get out more and be more active. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
