Downstream have released their debut album titled "As Winter Fades Away." This album is one that really shows off that new sort of emo pop punk that seems to be going around lately. These guys have a similar sound to that of a Real Friends or even a Title Fight, so if you are into those bands, you could really like this album. These guys have not done a have bad job on this album. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to an alright standard here. The instrumentation on the album is not bad, but a little more on the average side, that isn't saying they can't play though. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are a little too grungy but you can tell what he is saying if you listen just a little closer. This is not a bad style for the band and he does it to a good standard. With the lyrics, they seem to have a very dark feel and message to them. The good thing here though is that they are singing about not letting that stop you from your life goals and day to day life. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Downstream have made a debut album that really has a nice grungy punk sound which is kind of new. Hopefully this band can make the vocals a little clearer and keep getting out there. Not a bad album overall. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
