Debt Cemetary - Dig It Yourself

1. Kindasortamaybe
2. Stolen Pens Write Faster
3. When Life Gives You Dilemmas, Make Dilemonade

Debt Cemetary have released their debut three song EP. This album shows the band in a very fast, but melodic punk sound. They have something that fits in quite well with the typical accepted punk rock sound. These guys have a similar sound to that of Strung Out, Belvedere, or even a band like A Wilhelm Scream. If you like those bands, you could like this EP, so give it a listen. They have done a pretty good here on this album.

When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a pretty solid level. Now the vocals on this album are done pretty well. It has a nice sound to it, and you can hear everything, we just wish the production was a tad bit better to get rid of the little fuzziness on the background of the vocals. Other than than that, not too bad.  With the instrumentation, the band has decided to go for music with really fast, punky riffs. These are pretty common in the punk scene and is a trick for guitarists to just play faster. We don't think the band is setting the world on fire with their playing, but it is decent, and they can certainly play. This is just some good regular punk playing

Now onto the vocals and lyrics. These vocals seem to fit right in with that punk vocal style. This isn't going to wow you and go up against the pop singers, but for what they are trying to do, these vocals fit well. You can certainly hear what they are saying, despite the fast sung lyrics. The one issue is, the vocals just have this feel that they could have been a little bit clearer, and a tad more produced to get the bit of rawness out from the background. With the lyrics, the band goes for songs about being sick of waiting for things to fall your way, and relationships. These seem to be pretty standard things for bands to talk about, however these are things that people who are into this type of punk music can get into. The lyrics here target punk fans and can get people to get behind them, so for that, good job. They have done a good job on these song.

If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "When Life Gives You Dilemmas, Make Dilemonade" your attention, as this song give you just a little toned down, more melodic taste to their music, so you will be able to get into the rest of their music from this song.

Debt Cemetary have made a debut album that shows off the style and sound the band wants to portray. This also give the band something to get them out and able to start playing shows with. Now three songs isn't that much, but its enough to do something and give a little taste of the band. We really like what they are doing here so far, and we can't wait to hear whats next from these guys. Give them a listen to decide for yourself what you think about them.

Dead City Citizens - Dead City Citizens

1. Concrete Walls
2. Ain't Lookin' Back
3. Behind The Lines
4. Keepin' It Real
5. Not My Night
6. Broke Ass Blues
7. She Ain't Missin'
8. Thought You Should Know
9. Service Revolver
10. Days Of The Rats
11. Microphone Politics
12. Catchin' Up
13. Last Man Standing

Dead City Citizens have released their debut album which happens to be self titled. This album shows the band in a very fast paced punk way. These guys have that true punk feel with songs that only last about 2 mins on average. They have a similar sound to bands like early Rancid, The Casualties, and The Exploited, so if you like band like this, you could really like this album. They have done an okay job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to a very dirty, DIY feel to it. You can tell there is a lot of work needed in the recording of this album, but it also sounds a bit like the band wanted it this way for their dirty, punk image. The instrumentation isn't bad, but it is nothing that will make you stand up and take notice, its a sloppy fast punk record. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals on this album are fast and forceful here. He can definitely keep it going with the fast paced vocals, but it is hard to understand at times. With the lyrics, as they are hard to hear, we can't really comment on them too much, but what we can tell you is, this band is going for songs with a more political nature here, which isn't the best content to talk about if you are trying to get as many fans as possible. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the feel of this album. Dead City Citizen have a bit of work here to do, but it is no secret as to the type of band and music they want to go with. Hopefully they can get a bit of a better recording here so you can decipher them a little more. The band just needs to get out and play shows as well so people know them. Its a start for sure. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)

Gym Class Joke - Corporate Punk$

1. sXe Love Song
2. Don't Expect Me To Care
3. Why Do I Try?
4. This Thing I Believe
5. New Youth
6. Myself
7. I Think We're Alone Now
8. End Credits

Gym Class Joke have released their debut album titled "Corporate Punk$." This album is quite the punk album and really sticks with that sort of skate punk and street vibe here. They have done the typical punk rock you would expect from bands in the 90's so it goes well with the time. They have a similar sound to artists like Belvedere or even Rancid, so if you like that style of punk, you could really like this album. They have done an alright job here. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded to just an okay standard. Now we aren't sure if the recording just hasn't stood up well or was recorded like that, but either way it needs work for sure. The instrumentation on the album could use some work as well, but with the style of punk they are playing, it is suppose to be sloppy and messy. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals on this album have been done pretty fast and have a very raw feel to them. This is something people who are into this genre like, so it isn't all that bad, just not our thing. Their vocalist can sing alright so hey. With the lyrics, the band tends to go for subjects of feeling alone, being by yourself and just that whole loneliness feeling you can get trapped into. This is something we can all relate to as some point or another, hopefully this help either them or a listener. If you are looking for a single to this album, there isn't one, so just pick a song and give it a listen to get the idea of the album. Gym Class Joke have made a debut album that really shows the style they are going for and gives a raw punk feel. We enjoyed it for what it is and they have potential for sure. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
