Magneta Lane have released their debut album titled "The Constant Lover." The ladies of Magneta Lane have made an album that is very much in the style of what is the popular rock in Canada these days. It is a very indie release and it hit just the right spots to work. This album is similar to that of Tokyo Police Club or early Metric, so if you like those bands, you could like this album. They have done a not so bad job on this album. When looking at the recording quality, the album has been recorded fairly well and it has a great indie sound to it. The instrumentation on the album is pretty standard, it is bass driven, but on a level that you can still tell that these ladies know what they are doing. Now onto the vocals and lyrics, the vocals are not bad, they have that sort of indie, deeper, a big mono tone vocal style. It certainly is done well and she can sing so this is great. With the lyrics, the band has gone wi th themes of boys, partying and being used. They have a good lyrical content that goes with the yoouunger generation here. If you are looking for single to this album, give the title song "The Constant Lover" your attention as it is the best representation of the album and is a pretty decent song. Magneta Lane's debut album is one that really lets you get a sense of the band and what they will be about. They have done a great job on the album and its nice to see. Now all that is left is gettig out there and playing more. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it.
