Rikers have released their debut album titled "Islands." This album is one that follows the typical radio rock lines and gives just what the standard rock fans want. They have a similar sound to that of a Bleeker or even a rocky version of AFI, so if you like either of those bands, you could like this album. These guys have done a not too bad job on this one. When looking at the recording quality of this album, the album has been recorded fairly decently, which really brings everything out. The instrumentation on the album is not bad but it isn't something to be wowed at either, it is just a good solid recording. Now onto the vocals and the lyrics, the vocals are done quite well, the singer has a sort of indie feel to his voice, while still being rock. He is quite clear and you can hear his voice, so that is really nice. With the lyrics, they just kind of miss the mark as to what people are really looking for in their songs, nothing really pops out or gives you that I need to listen more feel. If you are looking for a single to this album, give the song "I'm On The Radio" your attention as this is the best song on the album and you can really tell. It has that pop, catchiness and you can sing it.oddly enough this is the song that made the radio singing about being on the radio. Rikers have made a pretty good debut, sort of welcome to album, but as nicely recorded the songs are, none of them besides the single really stand out and grab you. Hopefully with some progression and tweaking, they can get more songs that really grab the listener and keep them interested. Listen to this album to decide for yourself what you think of it. They have since called it quits (R.I.P.)
